The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) started life as a military airfield during WWII, called Alamo Field. It became an international airport in 1944 and has grown to serve over 40 non-stop destinations, including international locations. Interestingly, the airport is not the first in San Antonio; Stinson Airfield, the second-oldest continuously operating airport in the US, came before it.
San Antonio International has three runways that sit on 2,300 acres that serve 14 airlines at 27 gates across two terminals, and It's about to get bigger as the airport is building a new terminal.
You can take direct flights to over 20 states from the San Antonio International Airport, as well as five cities in Mexico. However, a new destination announced in September will be a historic first for the airport.
